Pass No Pass

Once upon a time in undergrad, I woke up and took a shower. During the shower, I realized I hadn’t changed my French 103 class to pass/no pass. I didn’t know about pass/no pass my freshman year; had I, my GPA would have been even better and I could’ve gotten into the national honors society instead of just the university’s. I was one A away. So I raced over to the registrar and got the class changed to P/NP. Later, when I was talking to the professor about a recommendation letter, she told me I would have gotten an A anyway. I never understood how French professors graded. Didn’t an A mean you could speak the language fluently? Low self-efficacy has always been my thing.
